Buying Toilet Seats Direct

Are you looking to brighten up your bathroom?

The bathroom is one of the most important rooms in our home.  It is the place where we wash ourselves and our children, where we clean our teeth and where we brush our hair.  It’s also a place where many of us head if we want some quiet time on our own to think or to relax.

And, of course, it is where we all head when we have to go to the toilet.

None of us would think twice about investing time and energy into buying a living room chair or sofa.  We would think carefully about its design and comfort and find the settee that provided the most affordable, stylish and practical solution for our lounge.  However, do any of us give the same thought to buying another seat we use on a daily basis – our toilet seat?

A poll of 2,500 people published in The Scotsman newspaper in 2008 revealed that going to the toilet accounts for the biggest chunk of time that Brits spend in the bathroom – an average of one hour and 42 minutes a week, or almost 92 days over a lifetime.  So, if we are spending nearly ninety hours every single year on the toilet, shouldn’t we be taking more care to choose a loo seat that is interesting, practical and comfortable?

The same poll also found that many people head to the bathroom when they want to sit down and think.  Many of the people surveyed say escapism is a factor, with peace and quiet being high on the list of things people associate with the smallest room. And, 43 per cent of people reckon the bathroom is the only place they get time to themselves.  Another 39 per cent say they often retreat to the bathroom when they want to think.

So, if you are going to spend hours of your week in the bathroom, surely it makes sense to create a room that isn’t boring, dull and uncomfortable?

Be honest – when was the last time you changed your toilet seat?  Most people don’t change their loo seat unless it breaks or they are completely redecorating their bathroom.  Even then, many people plump for boring, plain toilet seats, giving no thought to whether they are comfortable or not.

If you are going to head to the bathroom to get a bit of peace and quiet or to have some private time to yourself, why would you want to sit on an old, unhygienic, uncomfortable toilet seat?  They are cheap to replace and you could get a seat that gives you a much more satisfying experience.

The Scotsman’s research also suggests that we could better use the amount of time that we spend in the bathroom.  With men spending an average one hour and 45 minutes on the loo each week and women spending an hour and 25 minutes, we could all read Leo Tolstoy’s epic novel War and Peace twice a year!

For example, have you considered a soft or cushioned toilet seat?  A great advantage of these seats is that they are warmer than a standard loo seat.  How many times have you got up in the night or on a cold winter’s morning only to face the prospect of a freezing toilet seat?  Cushioned or luxury toilet seats are warmer as well as being more comfortable.

Luxury toilet seats are also a terrific choice for anyone for whom going to the toilet can be a stressful experience.  Small children and toddlers learning to use the toilet can appreciate the warm, soft comfort afforded by a cushioned toilet seat whilst at the other end of the age spectrum, the elderly can also alleviate some of their toilet stress with a bit of extra comfort.

Toilet training is so simple now with soft close toilet trainer seats. These can be used by the child and the adult by simply just lifting one or two seats. When the Child is fully potty trained you can just use the adult part of the seat.

Wooden toilet seats are also a popular choice for anyone wanting to add quality and style to their bathroom.  Whether you are looking for a pine, mahogany or antique pine loo seat, these wooden seats are a great choice and will bring a touch of class to any bathroom.  They are also sturdy and long lasting.

Another great reason to buy a new toilet seat is to give your bathroom a little bit of personality.  White or wooden toilet seats may be practical; they are often very plain and boring.  Very few people paint their living room white and sit on plain white sofas, so why would you do this to a room where you are going to spend weeks of your life?

Toilet seats come in a wide range of brilliant stylish and fun designs.  Many come with some great pictures and designs including penguins, boats, pebbles or even your child’s favourite cartoon character.   You can even show your patriotism by buying a Union Jack toilet seat!  You can choose toilet seats that add some real style to your smallest room including football motifs or brightly coloured abstract designs.  And, you can also find a loo seat which fits whatever colour scheme you are planning to decorate your toilet.

Of course, there are also a number of situations where a new toilet seat may be a practical rather than a cosmetic solution.  For example, you may want to buy and install a special child’s toilet seat – generally featuring an extra small seat – if you are teaching your son or daughter to use the toilet for the first time.

You may also need to adapt your toilet for medical purposes.  Living with an elderly relative or disabled person may mean that you need to replace your loo seat with a medical toilet seat or raised toilet seat.  This will help to make your bathroom more comfortable and accessible for a loved one.

Whether your bathroom is big or small, or you have a separate WC, a new toilet seat can really add some colour to your home.  And, considering the average person will spend over three months of their life on the toilet, spending a few pounds to benefit from that extra comfort could really pay dividends.
